New Wii Update - USB KEYBOARDS!
For those of you who has the Wii Connect 24 turned on, did you see the glowing blue light emitting from your Wii yesterday? You know, the one that gets you all giddy and excited because there’s actually something new to look forward to seeing? Well I didn’t yet, but I will when I get the chance to check it out. According to Gamespot, the new update has allowed for the use of USB keyboards, which can be used with the new Opera browser upgrade to the Internet Channel. The update also allows you to share URL links along with messages to your friend code (note - this was already possible before except that it was a bitch to do), copy and paste text, and 9 more bookmark slots bringing it up to a grand total of 56 bookmark slots! Whoo-hoo. Not only that, the new Opera browser will support user created Web Contents known as Widgets (such as web calendars, RSS readers, Internet radio stations).

Before anyone wonders if their USB keyboard’s cable is long enough to reach your from your Wii, just stop. Get a wireless USB keyboard first and use that instead. You know the cable is too damm short.
So for those of us who actually use the Wii to surf the web, this is actually a good thing because now it actually makes the Wii much more web enabled and gives us another reason not to get off the couch. Almost as if they’re just trying to keep us off our PCs and do our Internet stuff on the consoles. Well, I’m still indifferent to it so….whatever. But then again, perhaps it’s just a mask to draw the attention away from the fact that Nintendo is still far behind in it’s online gaming capabilities? Nonetheless, there’s still more big new coming from Nintendo. Stay tuned…
