What started as only a rumor yesterday has turned out to be a confirmation.  Capcom has officially announced in a London conference that Okami will make it’s way to the Wii. Whether or not it’s going to be another (yes another..) port or a brand new Wii game is little left to speculation.

Okami was one of the most highly acclaim PS2 games of 2006 and even those it didn’t sell well, IGN.com awarded it 2006 Game of Year. The game featured a  stylish cel-shaded of graphics with a very unique gameplay, similar to the Zelda games. You play as a Japanese sun goddess “Amaterasu” who takes the form of a white wolf on a mission to defeat the demon lord Orochi . Combat involves using something called a “Celestial Brush” in which you essentially paint on the game screen certain shapes on screen to create objects or battle enemies.

Many have stated that Okami would be one of the perfect games to be played on the Wii due to the motion control functionalities of the Wii-mote. Needless to say, I agree and will be keeping an eye out on this one. Hopefully they’ll bring something new and not just another port…
