Yeah I know a month really isn’t anything in the blogging world.  But for me, this is a significant milestone because this is the first blog I’ve started (and also happens to be my first foray into web marketing) and did not believe that this would actually last this long. One month ago today I began The Wii Effect with an unsure mindset of how I was going to do this and where I was gonna go with it. I’ve always knew before I began this blog that I wanted to write and ramble about the Wii and the world of video gaming, but wasn’t too sure what the best method was for doing it. So a couple weeks before I began, I did my research on blogging, decided that the Wordpress platform is the way to go, signed up with an affordable web host, and just began writing. The rest is history.

So within this first month, this is what I accomplished :

1.  993 hits on the site - didn’t quite make it to 1000 like I was hoping. I’m not sure if this is good or bad - considering I rarely did any promotions. All the actual promotions that I’ve done with The Wii Effect is just adding a link to my signature in a few forums I visit regularly. Guess I better amp up this promotion thing a bit.
2. 52 posts for the month of October. Not sure if thats a good thing or bad thing yet.
3. Targeting certain keywords and topics. Some of my posts are #1 on Google such as the Wii Connect24 Overheating article.
4. Learn how to post video clips correctly.
5. Pissed off some Xbox 360 fanboys (and some Wii fanboys apparently) with a few of my subtle comments.
6. Learned a tad bit on web marketing.

Here’s some things that I think I need to work on:

1. Actually do some serious promotions.
2. Learn to write better articles with better grammar. I know I tend to write how I talk, and I don’t talk good sometimes (see what I mean?).
3. Write more direct articles. I understand that some of my posts are bit vague on where I stand at certain times.
4. Post better up to date news.
5. Post larger and better screenshots.
6. Write better game reviews.

Well, there it is for now.  My next goal is to make it 3 months. I’m hearing a lot of blogs don’t make it that far but hopefully The Wii Effect will still be here by then. So next time we do another one of this will be on January 1st 2008.
