Band Mashups for the Wii

GameSutra News:

I hate posting late news, but when you hold two day jobs, it happens.

THQ has announced its latest Wii title ‘Band Mashups’ the game is another music based game.  They say that it will make full use of the Wii’s control scheme and feature customizable bands battling it out.

The game is said to feature 30 songs and allow you to choose a musical style and switch it up during the song.  Look forward to weapons such as the sniper violin or the flame throwing guitar and prepare for a new type of battle of the bands on the Wii.

Capcom Notices Bionic Commando Wii Petition

wiicommando

News from Ars Technica:

Bionic Commando producer Ben Judd was asked if Capcom had noticed the quickly growing Bionic Commando petition, now with over 13,000 signatures.  He responded that Capcom has in fact taken notice and that they are happy to hear that Wii owners are interested in the game.

Don’t get too excited yet guys, he said that even if Capcom were to immediately start work on the game, we would not see a release for at least a year.

Iwata: VC Sales at 10 Million and More on WiiWare and System Avalibilty

From Kotaku:

The virtual console is doing well at over 10 million downloads since its launch.  He says it’s proof that downloaded games are a possibility for WiiWare developers.  This reinforces the idea that WiiWare is a great way for independent developers to get into the market.

He also mentions that Nintendo is still having trouble keeping up with the demand for the Wii, mostly due to the high (and unexpected) demand through the Summer months.

I hope they, can make enough consoles to get out there and keep up with the demand.  About the WiiWare thing, I can see it going either way.  I think most of us pay for the VC games just to relive the old game experiences of the NES and SNES eras.  I don’t know if the demand for the WiiWare titles will be as high, unless we see some awesome stuff coming out.

According to a company spokesperson, the Rock Band microphone, despite what it says on the packaging, is not compatible with the Wii.  Weird news, especially since just a couple of days we had confirmation via conference call that Rock Band would be available on the Wii sometime in the future.

This does not mean that we won’t be seeing Rock Band on the Wii.  It just plays with our heads a little.
