Nintendo, always innovating and on top of the game.  They always figure out how to give us interesting new ways to play and cool new peripherals.  Sometimes, they even get a bit defensive about the use of their products.  This patent application submitted by Nintendo shows just how crazy things can get.

Rock Band Confirmed for Wii

Well it seems to be happening, ‘Rock Band’ finally on the Wii according to a conference call with EA CEO John Riccitiello.  For a while I starting to lose hope.  It’s nice to finally have official word.

No real details or a release date yet, but I will definitely try to keep up to date on this.

Wii Fit Tops Japanese Charts for a 4th Week

Looks like Wii Fit is still at the top of the Japanese game charts.  This seems to help show that Japanese gaming actually has been taking on a new direction.  Games like Mario and Zelda are not doing as well as they used to in Japan.  ‘No More Heroes’ had disappointing sales according to Suda51.

2007: The Casual Year For Games?

According to DFC Intelligence, (a bunch of video game analysts) 2007 sales showed a huge demand for casual gaming.  Not surprisingly, the Wii is what set it off.  Hey, as long as people are enjoying games, let it happen.  With more casual games, we see more gamers, and the demand for more games.  I know a lot of them will be casual games, but many will move on to the big franchises like Mario and Zelda.  Let’s hope so.

UK Government Backing Wii Use in Gym

The Wii is being backed by the UK government to be used as a fitness tool in gym classes. It will be pretty awesome, but honestly, I can’t see this replacing real physical education. Playing Wii is better exercise than other consoles but it still doesn’t require a whole lot of physical activity.

Unless you are talking about Wii Fit. I could totally do that.
